An Ode To My Left Knee
An Ode To My Left Knee
(with a customized excerpt from “Jabberwocky”)
A fond farewell, Alas, my bony mass
Another will supplant thee.
Thou’st run thy course with might and force
Well nigh a century half and decade.
Purposefully poised betwixt popliteal fossa and ossified patella
I have grown rather attached to thee, dear fella.
For sooth for say, thou knee hast seen a better day.
Yea but a fortnight and it shall come true:
One, two! One, two! And through and through
The vorpal scalpel went snicker-snack!
O frabjous day! Callooh! Callay!
She chortled under anesthesia.
May I propose on bended genu,
through years of tender, loving review,
A toast to thee, precious sinister knee.
“Tis better to have limped and lost
Than never to have limped at all.”
