Here is a simple bourbon based cocktail that we have been enjoying this summer. It has four ingredients and comes together in a few minutes. I’m still on the fence about the flavor of straight bourbon, but the addition of a little citrus, a little sweet, and a hint of fresh herb knocks it out of the ballpark. I hope you savor the balanced brevity of this bourbon beverage. I discovered the recipe at townandcountrymag.com.
Thyme Will Tell Cocktail makes 2 drinks
4 oz bourbon
1 oz maple syrup
1 oz freshly squeezed lemon juice
few sprigs fresh thyme
Muddle a few sprigs of thyme in a cocktail shaker with a couple of ice cubes. Fill the shaker half full with ice. Add the bourbon, maple syrup and lemon juice and shake vigorously. Add ice to two chilled glasses. Pour the cocktail through a fine sieve (to catch the thyme).
